Friday 25th Real Sociedad v Villarreal
Villarreal stole this game last year with an injury time goal after they had defended all match and hit Sociedad on the counter attack. Sociedad had many chances to score in that game and the “jinx” continues with the home side not winning against Villarreal in eleven meetings today. In San Sebastian the scores have read 0-1, 0-2, 0-0, 1-2 and 1-1 so a tight game looks assured. Real Sociedad won away last week at Celta and Villarreal lost at Levante so many will fancy the home side but those stats lean me towards laying them at 2.10 (11/10).
Real Betis v Celta de Vigo
Not a game I want to get involved in too much but a couple of stats to throw out there. In five of the last six meetings today, both teams have scored and three of the last four have been drawn. For those who want to get involved and trade the game you could consider Backing 1-1 and 2-2 with a view to trading out.
Saturday 26th Deportivo Alaves v Barcelona
Barcelona should win but with only one recent meeting here, and the visitors winning 6-0, it is probably best to leave the game alone, with no obvious angle.
Las Palmas v Atletico Madrid
Just four recent meetings today at this level, although they did meet twice in the Cup last season whereb oth sides won the away fixture. In the four league games, Las Palmas have failed to score with the two games in Gran Canaria ending 0-5 and 0-3. Obvious call on these stats is Atletico to win to nil at 2.88 (15/8) but that doesn’t appeal with Griezmann suspended so the percentage call is to leave alone.
Sunday 27th Eibar v Athletic Bilbao
A Basque derby that could get intense and Athletic hold the edge in the six previous meetings today. They have won four with a single win for Eibar and one draw but they were poor last weekend against Getafe and couldn’t even break them down after the red card. Eibar were comfortable in their 1-0 win at Malaga and a reproduction of that form gives them a huge chance. Eibar have moved in the market this week and are now 2.60 (8/5) which is no more than fair and this could be a game to Lay Over 2.5 goals and trade out at 25 minutes for a green book with hopefully no early goal.
Real Madrid v Valencia
This is always a cracking fixture and Valencia give as good as they get and it is eight head to head games since an away win. So the stats are, all eight of those saw both teams score, all eight were Over 2.5 goals with five Over 3.5 goals and three of the games were 2-2 draws, two in Madrid. The bookies have the odds about spot on in most markets so we could try trading a couple of correct scores looking for a green book. Try 3-2 Real and 2-2 draw for smaller stakes.
Getafe v Sevilla
Sevilla struggled in mid-week against the Turkish side in Champions League qualifying and could be worth siding against whilst they bed the new players in. Getafe are no great shakes but they are at home and have a fantastic record there against Sevilla. In the last seven visits to Getafe, Sevilla have drawn two and lost five. We have to lay Sevilla at the current price of 2.10 (11/10) and hope the run continues.
