  • Spurs have won 2 of the last 5 Premier League head-to-heads 3-1
  • Both teams scored in 9 of the last 13 head-to-heads
  • Chelsea have scored at least 2 goals in 11 of the last 17 head-to-heads
  • 4 DRAWS in the last 13 league head-to-heads

After promising starts to their Premier League campaigns, both Spurs and Chelsea have hit the buffers a bit at the moment and you feel the priorities for the pair now is to finish in the top four, rather than win be title challengers.

They face-off this Thursday with Spurs the hosts, while there will be some added interest with Tottenham boss, Jose Mourhino back facing one of his old clubs, while all eyes will also be on new Chelsea manager – Thomas Tuchel – it what will only be his third game in charge.

The match betting suggests a tight game, but most make Chelsea the favourites despite being the away side at 2.20, with the draw 3.40 and Spurs 3.30.

Of course, the big news surrounding Spurs is that their main man – Harry Kane – is still on the sidelines after getting injured a week ago against Liverpool. The Londoners are clearly a much weaker side without him and that showed with a recent 1-0 away defeat at Brighton last Sunday.

They’ve already faced-off this season and that ended in a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge, so it you fancy a repeat of that you’ll be rewarded at 11.00. While they also met in the EFL Cup this season – that ended in a draw as well (1-1), with Spurs going on to win on pens.

Spurs have also won 2 of their last 5 vs Chelsea 3-1, so even though this scoreline looks unlikely for those that like history repeating itself, you can back this at 29.00.

Will There Be Goals? It’s normally a fixture that produces goals though – 11 of the last 18 clashes went OVER 2.5 GOALS, but with no Kane and Spurs having scored only one goal in their last two games then you might want to treat this market with a bit of caution. Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 1.90, with Under 2.5 goals 1.90 too.

Both teams have also scored in 9 of the last 13 meetings today, so at 1.70 this might appeal too, while it’s interesting that Chelsea have scored 2+ goals in 11 of their last 17 against Spurs. You can back the visitors to net 2 (or more) goals at 2.10.

Which Players To Score? The scoring markets will obviously be closely linked to the team news, but Chelsea’s Abraham is 5.50 (1st) or 2.40 (anytime), or Werner is a slightly shorter 5.00 (1st) or 2.25 (anytime). While with no Kane the pressure on Son to perform will be greater – he’s 6.00 (1st) or 2.60 (anytime).

Overall, it’s a tricky game to call, with both sides certainly having a bit to prove at the moment. Chelsea will at least head into the game off the back of a 2-0 win over Burnley and with a new manager you feel the motivation might be better than Spurs, who have lost their last two and have no Kane.

Could the busy period of games be starting to catch up with Spurs? With this in mind, Chelsea at 2.20 look the safer option to get all three points here and that’s how we are going to play this one.
