Manchester United v Arsenal 16:30

  • Last season’s repeat fixture ended, Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal
  • Arsenal took 4 points off Man Utd last season
  • 3 of the last 5 repeat fixtures ended 1-1
  • 4 of the last 6 repeat fixtures ended in DRAWS
  • Man Utd are unbeaten in the last 13 repeat fixtures
  • Arsenal last beat Man Utd away in the league in 2006
  • The last 3 head-to-heads went UNDER 2.5 GOALS
  • Both teams scored in 10 of the last 14 head-to-heads (all comps)
  • Arsenal have won just 4 of their last 18 league games vs Man Utd
  • Aubameyang (Arsenal) has scored 3 goals in the last 4 head-to-heads (all comps)

One of the season highlights for many Premier League football fans as Manchester United and Arsenal do battle at Old Trafford.

Plenty of history between the two sides with the famous Martin Keown and Ruud van Nistelrooy incident in 2003, which was dubbed ‘The Battle Of Old Trafford’ one example of the deep rivalry between these big guns sides.

Anyway, both teams look a lot different these days and are certainly not the dominate forces they were back in 2003!

However, in what looks set to be a strange season, with no crowds likely to not be allowed for much of the season, the title might be there for the taking for a side that can knuckle down and get a run of wins together – could this be Arsenal or United? I’m not so sure, but with Arsenal 41.00 and United 21.00 to win the Premier League this might appeal to some.

Both sides have only started the new season with average form – Arsenal sit 11th at the start of week seven, with 9 points, and United are 15th on 7 points – a win for either side looks crucial if they don’t want the pack at the top to get away from them.

The match betting suggests a tight game with Man Utd at 2.05, the Draw 3.60 and Arsenal on offer at 3.40.

Last season’s repeat fixture ended in a 1-1 draw – a duplicate of this score line can be backed at 7.50.

In fact, 3 of the last 5 head-to-heads also ended 1-1 so this has to be a correct score to have on your radar – 4 of the last 6 clashes overall have also ended in draws.

United are, however, unbeaten in their last 13 home league games over Arsenal so the Gunners have found life tough when playing at Old Trafford in the league in recent seasons – they last beat Man Utd on their home turf in the league in 2006!

The last 3 head-to-heads between the sides went UNDER 2.5 GOALS, so at 2.10 this might appeal, but with BOTH TEAMS scoring in 10 of the last 14 (71%) this might be a better option at 1.61 – especially with all the 1-1 draws of late.

Arsenal have also won only 4 of their last 18 league games over Man Utd.

Looking at the scorers markets – Man Utd’s Mr School Lunches – Marcus Rashford – will be a popular choice at 6.00 (1st) or 2.40 (anytime), while with 3 goals in the last 4 head-to-heads then Arsenal’s Aubameyang is a striker to have on your radar – he’s on offer at 5.00 (1st) or 2.10 (anytime).

A tough game to call with both sides certainly having a bit to prove at the moment – United’s solid home league record over Arsenal makes it tricky to back the visitors with confidence, but The Red Devils are hardly setting the world alight to warrant siding with them.

The draw at 3.60 looks an option that would give you a run for your money with both sides certainly capable of coming back should they go a goal down.

However, I’m going to opt for the BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE option at 1.61 – the teams have plenty of firepower up top, plus with a few frailties in their defences this should give both sets of strikers the confidence to hit the back of the net.

JUICESTORM VERDICT: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @1.61
