La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Saturday 9th February 2019
Getafe v Celta Vigo
Getafe are currently in fifth place and just got beaten in the Quarter Finals of the Copa del Rey, so are having a great season and will be looking to gain European football for the first time in over ten years. Celta have been awful this season but ended a five-match losing run by defeating Sevilla 1-0 at home. Their away form still leaves a lot to be desired with just two wins in this campaign. Three of the last five head to head ended level but all in Vigo whilst Getafe have won four of the last five home meetings today. Getafe are backable at 1.95 with a view to trading.
Atletico Madrid v Real Madrid
The Madrid derby following on from El Clásico in the Cup in midweek so quite a tough week for Real. Six of the last seven meetings today in the league were Under 2.5 goals and Atletico have won just one of the last eight home head to head with three draws. Atletico were on an eighteen-game unbeaten run until Betis beat them last week, but they are unbeaten at home and have scored in all their home games. Real have won their last four matches and lost just one in nine but still don’t seem to be really firing on all cylinders. I think this will be a draw. I could not put anyone off Under 2.5 goals at 1.80, but a small Lay of Atletico at 2.40 with a view to trading, might be a better option.
Leganes v Real Betis
Only five recent meetings today at this level with Leganes winning both the home fixtures by 3-2 and 4-0. Betis beat Atletico at home last week but continue to be inconsistent and have a Copa del Rey semi-final in midweek. Leganes have lost just once at home but have drawn five of their ten games there. Both teams to score at around 2.00 looks fair.
Sunday 10th February 2019
Valencia v Real Sociedad
Valencia the draw kings managed to get a point at the Camp Nou last week and have now drawn twelve of twenty-two games and seven of eleven at home. They have lost twice in their last eleven games. Sociedad are themselves unbeaten in five, winning the Basque derby last week 2-1 and have a decent record in Valencia, winning on five of their last seven visits. Four of the last five meetings today were Over 2.5 goals and at 2.00 with a view to trading, that looks the way to go.
Sevilla v Eibar
Sevilla have now lost three of their last four but have lost just once at home all season. Four recent meetings today in Seville have ended with three home wins and a 0-0 draw and Eibar failing to find the net. Eibar are unbeaten in three but have won only one away game so far this season. Sevilla to win at 1.73 and trade for stake back if they lead.
Athletic Bilbao v Barcelona
Barcelona have won on their last four trips to Bilbao by 0-2, 0-1, 0-1, and 2-5. In the last ten meetings today overall, Barcelona have won nine with one draw. Bilbao lost at Sociedad last week but had gone seven unbeaten. Barcelona are on a ten-game unbeaten run but did draw at home to Valencia last week. It might be worth chancing the visitors to win to Nil at 3.00 unless Messi is injured in which case we leave the game alone.
Monday 11th February 2019
Alaves v Levante
Only three recent meetings today and Alaves won the one at home by 1-0. They have lost their last three matches but only lost one at home all season whilst the visitors Levante have just one win in eight and have lost their last three away. Both teams to score at 1.73.
