La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
The strange results continue in Spain and as advised here, Real Madrid suffered defeat at home to Levante. There seems no end to their current misfortunes and it cannot be long before Lopetegui gets dismissed, unless he somehow manages a win in the Camp Nou this weekend, which is unlikely. Alaves and Espanyol continue their good form and sit in the top three whilst draw kings Valencia managed yet another level game, with a late equaliser at home to Leganes.

Athletic Bilbao v Valencia
If ever a game looked destined for a draw it is this one. As mentioned above, Valencia managed yet another draw, their seventh in the nine matches played so far and Athletic are no strangers to level games themselves with five draws from their eight games played (Wed game not included). Add to that the fact that five of the last ten head to head have been draws and it is clear that the draw price at 3.25 offers some value, and with three of the last five head to head in Bilbao ending 1-1 we must chance a small correct score trade too at 6.00.
Atletico Madrid v Real Sociedad
Looks like a home banker with Atleti unbeaten in six and Sociedad still hit and miss. I can see the usual Atletico performance here grinding their opponents down and they have won the last five meetings today in Madrid, four to nil. Try 2-0 and 3-0 to Atletico on correct score trades with a view to “greening up”.
Levante v Leganes
Not a really inspiring fixture and they have met just twice before, a 0-0 draw and a win for Levante at Leganes 3-0. Levante are in decent nick winning the last three including at Real Madrid so are likely to be popular favourites this weekend. The bookies have them odds against and my only concern is that they have conceded the most goals in La Liga this season so far. Whether Leganes are good enough or have enough firepower to take advantage of that is doubtful and I think 2.20 is a decent price for the home win.

Getafe v Real Betis
This game could revolve around how attacking both sides want to be. Betis have won two and drawn one of the last three meetings today, but they have a negative style of play at present and Getafe hardly set the world alight with their style of play either. This could easily be 0-0 as the defences appear better than the attackers but I’m going to chance Betis at the price, 3.20 as I think they might hit Getafe on the break. Keep stakes small and trade out if they lead.
Alaves v Villarreal
Alaves sit third in the league and have lost just twice and have beaten Real Madrid and Celta in their last two games. They are there on merit and whilst they have no chance of finishing top six at the end of the season, they can guarantee no relegation battle with a few more decent results. Villarreal have been so in and out that it is impossible to recommend them to win but they are a better side away from home, two wins this season, and this is the sort of game they should win. Alaves have had the better recently in head to head with three wins from the last four, but the defeat was at home and Villarreal will fancy their chances. I cannot however recommend them at 2.40 so the best play may be Over 2.5 goals at 2.20.
Barcelona v Real Madrid
The big game, El Clásico and as it has been widely reported, it is eleven years since this game didn’t feature either Messi or Ronaldo. It will lose none of its attraction for the loss of Messi, but his absence may give us a betting opportunity as I believe there are still reasons to think that Barcelona will be too good for the visitors. Many of you will think that past stats are irrelevant as Barcelona will certainly be weakened by the loss of Messi but Coutinho and Dembele can use this game to repay some of their huge transfer fees and they will still play in the same way. I would be warier of stats for Real as they are a shadow of their normal selves and if Messi was playing, I have no doubt that Barca would be a lot shorter in price. Both teams have scored in the last seven head to head in Barcelona and nine of the last ten overall meetings today have gone Over 2.5 goals with five going Over 3.5 goals. Barcelona have won six of the last ten and I think if you can get 2.00 about them winning here, then that is the best option. They demolished Sevilla and look to be back on track following three draws in their previous four games whilst Real have not won in four, losing three of them. It could be argued that 1.50 for Over 2.5 goals is value but I wouldn’t recommend 1.44 for both teams to score with the way Real are playing. For those looking for a more “fun” bet consider a sending off as five of the last six meetings today have seen a red card. There are no prices available at the time of writing this, but I would think if you can get 2.50 or bigger it is worth a small play. Barcelona to win at 2.00!
