Stalls to follow

If you use draw advantages as part of your selection process in horse races, you may be interested in my Stalls To Follow list.

I no longer keep my http://www.startingstalls.co.uk web site up to date, but when I did, I provided a list of the very best draw advantages on a Stalls To Follow list every year.

My Stalls To Follow List isn’t available on the site now, but follow this link and you can view the last list that I produced for the 2007 season :-

http://strategy-blog.co.uk/startings…aastf_2007.htm

There is an A list and a B list.

My selection process was like a league table.

Before any draw advantage was promoted to the A list, it had to perform consistently for several seasons, and continue to produce a high percentage of winners from just a few stalls or it would be relegated to the B list again, or dropped altogether from my Stalls To Follow league.

The course and distances that remain on the 2007 A list are the ones that survived that quite rigorous selection process for a number of years – some of them for decades.

By using my league table selection method, the course and distances were always tested on future races.

Anyone can analyse a boatload of past results and come up with a winning formula based on those past results.

My list of course and distances was tested every year on the unknown results of future races.

Some of them have been on my list of Stalls To Follow ever since I started to look at draw advantages way back in the late 1970’s.

Of course, Beverley 5F and Chester 5F have always made the grade, but others such as Thirsk 5F and 6F, Sandown 5F, Epsom 5F and Doncaster 5F (promoted again after serious drainage work in the 1980’s) have survived the test of time.

Note that Haydock have built a completely new 5F and 6F sprint course for 2009, so those course and distances need a completely new analysis.

I recommend that you don’t trade in those races.

There are several factors that affect a draw advantage :-

· The going

· The number of runners

· Positioning of the stalls

· and most important of all, always concentrate on races for horses aged 3 years or older.

If you use my Stalls To Follow list, for best results, always make sure that all those factors are in your favour before you make a trade.

There is link to an All Weather list of Stalls To Follow on my web page, but I advise you to ignore that list as All Weather course and distances never produced the strong draw advantages that turf course and distances consistantly produced.

Good luck with that, Howard.
