Yesterday was poker day for me. So I fired up three tables at a popular poker site and went off in to the poker botosphere. Now, poker sites claim not to like bots. In fact, it’s against their terms and conditions. But what they really mean is they don’t like winning bots. But they can’t put that in their Ts and Cs, can they? If you lose – and most bots in the early days do – then the poker sites appreciate the liquidity. If you win they’ll take a view. And mostly close your account.

So let’s look at this for a moment. Losing bots provide liquidity and more rake for the poker site. Winning bots provide liquidity and more rake for the poker site and then they keep your winnings because you’ve broken the agreement you had with the poker site. It’s a win-win situation for the poker site. So how do you get round the issue of the poker site closing your account and keeping your hard earned bot winnings?

Well, I’ll cover that next week. Every site knows when you’re using a bot. Take that as gospel.
