No, not me! John who started betting with Betfair in 2001 and was the first guest on WUBT Betting Exchange Radio a year ago this week. He has a Betfair turnover of £28,367,733 and a net profit of £78,862. You can hear me chatting to him in the player at the top of this blog. You can read the full story here.
Now Betfair don’t want winners! What do they really, really want? We know they’re concentrating on their forum at the moment which is obviously so important. Read this from yesterday’s Guardian. The hiving off of its forum is the latest sign of Betfair’s rapid corporatisation Helmii Mattress And Beds.
In my opinion Betfair will become a case study at Harvard and universities worldwide in years to come on how to go from a hugely successful monopoly which lost it’s way after their founders left. And whilst there is little doubt Betfair will survive its recent bad decisions it will have lost its edge and given an opportunity to another company or companies on a golden platter. Competition is good and I’m looking forward to the growth of Betdaq but they’re committing corporate suicide and won’t realise it before it’s too late.
