Aston Villa v Bolton

Two struggling sides who both need a win to kick start their season, but which one of the two can break out of the run of poor form. Aston Villa have won only one of their last six, but Bolton have lost four of their last five. The game is likely to be tight and both meetings today last year ended in 1-0 home wins. Villa who have scored in every home game, are a shocking price at 1.44, even though I think they may win. As Bolton have scored only two in their last six games, we could chance Villa to win to Nil at 2.25.

Derby v Birmingham

Birmingham have been a big surprise in recent weeks, with Garry Monk again working wonders with a struggling club. They have not lost in eleven and won their last four. Derby have really upped their game and have lost one in eight, but they drew four and are still a little naïve at times. They do have pace going forward and that is a potent weapon at this level. Head to head shows eight of the last twelve were Over 2.5 goals and the recent head to head in Derby ended 1-1. 1-0, 0-3, 2-2 and 1-1. Derby will be very popular at the 2.00 currently available but this is a tough game for them and at 1.86 I prefer to go with Both Teams To Score especially with the current form of both teams.

Sheff Wed v Norwich

Wednesday have lost their last three and Norwich have won their last three so clearly an away win is favourite here. Norwich have not lost in five away and have scored in all their away games. Sheff Wed have conceded in every home game and their last five games were all Overs. The head to head in the last three were all Over 3.5 goals so we could take a chance on Over 3.5 goals at 3.60 with a view to trading the market if we get early goals.

Nottm Forest v Sheff Utd

Forest are turning out to be a very solid team and difficult to beat but they are drawing too many games that they should have won. They have ended level in eight of fifteen games, but they have only lost two all season. Sheff Utd are top of the league and have won nine of fifteen with three defeats. Both are in decent current form with Forest losing just one of nine and Sheff Utd winning five of their last seven. Forest are a touch big at 3.10 but too many draws lessens any confidence so perhaps the best bet is Both Teams To Score at around 1.73.

Brentford v Millwall

A story of two different seasons, with Brentford fading after a good start and Millwall coming good after a slow start. Millwall have won three of their last four and Brentford have not won in eight, losing their last three. Both games last season ended in 1-0 home wins, but I cannot recommend Brentford here at a shade of odds on, so I am going to go with a Lay of Brentford at around 2.00 on the exchanges.

Ipswich v Preston

Ipswich have lost four of their last five and have won only once this season but will have a new manager at the helm and that may spark some improvement. They have failed to score in four of the last five games and they need to rely on their dominance in this fixture in the last four meetings today at Portman Road where they have won three of those four games. Preston are unbeaten in five, including three draws and they have scored in their last seven games (Both teams scored in six of those) so we can either Lay Ipswich at 3.10 or take both to score at 1.83 with preference for the latter.

Blackburn v QPR

Not a game to get heavily involved in but QPR have found some form winning their last three and four of their last five, including a draw. Blackburn have drawn four of seven at home and seven of fifteen overall. In the recent head to head, five of six were Under 2.5 goals and four of those six ended level. A draw is the obvious call here so a bit of correct score trading around 1-1 and 2-2 may pay dividends.
