Our trading experts take a look at the best of the action from the Spanish La Liga this weekend.
La Liga
Saturday 1st April
12.00 Villarreal v Eibar
Villarreal have lost three of fourteen home games and only failed to score in three of those matches. Eibar have scored in eleven of thirteen away games and their remarkable season continues. The two have only met five times with Villarreal winning two and there were two draws and an Eibar win. Both teams scored in four of those five games including the last three and that looks the obvious way to go again here. Both teams to score and perhaps chance a small 1-1 correct score.
3.15 Osasuna v Athletic Bilbao
Osasuna are bottom of La Liga and almost certainly relegated. They have gone 20 games without a win managing just five draws in those games. For all that however they have played some decent football but just lack a bit of “tactical nous” at times. Osasuna have scored in their last six home games and Bilbao have scored in only two of their last eight away. So we have a side that cannot win, playing at home to a side that cannot win away in recent weeks. Athletic have won on three of their last five visits to Pamplona but it would clearly be risky backing either side here however Bilbao have a strong defence and will be tough to break down. I cannot recommend backing them to win away at odds on even against Osasuna but they are most likely to win. Again the best option looks to be both teams to score and this time chance a small 1-2 correct score
7.45 Malaga v Atletico Madrid
Malaga have conceded in their last eight home games and Atletico have scored in their last eight games and not lost away in their last six. Malaga have won once in fifteen games and only once in their last six at home. All the stats point to an away win and Atletico have certainly improved as the season has gone on. In looking for a downside to backing Atleti, the head to head stats show that in the last eleven meetings today, there has been just one away win. The last five in Malaga have seen three draws and a win for each team, four of those five were Under 2.5 goals. Tough to get an angle but possibly Atletico 1-0 or 2-0.
Sunday 2nd April
5.30 Valencia v Deportivo
Valencia have lost just one of their last eight home games, three of those being draws. Deportivo have won just once away, last time out in Gijon so are not the best travellers. The last three head to head between the two ended 1-1 but in Valencia, the last five meetings today have seen two draws and three home wins. As Valencia have conceded in eleven of thirteen home games, can we expect Depor to score? They have scored in nine of fourteen away games, nine of the last ten so on form the answer is yes. I expect Valencia to win so if Deportivo score then we are looking at Over 2.5 goals as the best option here.
7.45 Granada v Barcelona
For a side languishing in the bottom three, Granada have found a bit of form with three wins in their last four home games, but this game is a different kettle of fish with Barcelona coming to town. Granada have conceded in eleven of thirteen at home and are likely to do so again here. Barcelona have scored in all fourteen away games and have scored in ten of eleven head to head meetings today, they have won ten of those eleven meetings today and must be the selection here. So how many do they win by? Granada at home have proved no pushover this season and have only lost by more than one goal, on the one occasion. Will Barca settle for a win or go for the jugular? Purely on the stats we can try three small bets here. Try Barcelona to win 1-0 and 2-1 correct scores, 12/1 and 10/1, and also consider Laying Over 4.5 goals at around 2.60 meaning we would need five goals for the bet to lose, clearly possible when Barcelona are playing but with the stats in our favour we will surely get the chance to trade out at some point.
