Saturday 4th March
3.15 Eibar v Real Madrid
Eibar is not the place you want to be visiting when you are not at the top of your game. Eibar are in seventh and have lost just two of their last eight games, away at Sevilla and home to Barcelona. Their tiny ground has also become a bit of a fortress with eight wins and two draws in thirteen home games. Real need to win, a draw is not good enough and following a 3-3 draw at home to Las Palmas in midweek, they will have to go for it. They have won four of the five meetings today between the two by thirteen goals to one. I am not in the habit of tipping Real away at the prices they often are but I just feel they will win this. It could be argued that Eibar at 5/1 are worth a punt but there is something about the way Eibar set up that makes them vulnerable against Real and Barca. Probably a game to leave alone but I might try trading 3-0 and 4-0 Real.
5.30 Villarreal v Espanyol
On current form there is not a lot to choose between these two sides with Villarreal perhaps slightly more attacking. The two sit sixth and ninth respectively and both have European aspirations. Villarreal got off to a great start to the season but have been in and out of late, winning at Sociedad before leading Real 2-0 before succumbing 3-2. They were back on track in midweek with a 4-1 win at Osasuna and now that they are back in the goals they should prove too strong for an Espanyol side that have lost three of their last five away. The head to head in Villarreal also favours the home side with three wins and a draw in the last five and in the overall head to head in the last ten meetings today, Espanyol have just one win but have managed five draws. Both teams to score or Villarreal to win with Over 2.5 goals look decent options.
Sunday
5.30 Las Palmas v Osasuna
A fine point away at Real Madrid in midweek which LP need to build on against bottom side Osasuna who have lost twelve and drawn three of their last fifteen games. They have also lost six of their last seven away. Las Palmas had a fantastic start to the season but dropped off and that draw with Real ended a run of four losses. They had been unbeaten at home but lost the last two, both 1-0 to Sevilla and Sociedad. This gives them a chance to get back to winning and the three recent meetings today, two in Segunda division, all went Over 2.5 goals. This might be an entertaining game so LP to win and goals.
7.45 Athletic Club Bilbao v Malaga
Just a quick stat here and not one to go overboard on but Malaga have drawn four of their last six visits to Bilbao so it may be worth thinking twice if you are including Bilbao in your bets. They have also had a tough trip to Sevilla in midweek and have conceded in eleven of thirteen home games this season. Against that, they have only lost once at home but if Malaga score, as the stats suggest they might just nick a point and they have drawn five away this season. Small Lay of Athletic Bilbao if the price is short enough, both teams to score if that is too risky for you.
