Trading Focus – La Liga 14th-15th Jan
12.00 Leganes v Athletic Bilbao
The two have never met before and with Leganes better away and Bilbao better at home we have a tough puzzle to solve. Bilbao have lost four of their last five on the road and Leganes are unbeaten in their last three at home. I can’t find anything positive so if pushed a 1-1 draw looks the best trading option.
15.15 Barcelona v Las Palmas
Two recent meetings today both ended 2-1 to Barcelona but that doesn’t tell the full story as Las Palmas more than matched them in many departments and are probably a bit big at 25/1. The problem I see here is that Las Palmas will play football rather than trying to frustrate Barca and that will be their undoing. Barca to win but they could find it tough unless they score early.
17.30 Atletico Madrid v Real Betis
Atletico have won the last six meetings today and I see no chance of that changing here. Atletico haven’t been on top form so far this season but Betis are so unorganised they could fall apart here. Atletico rarely put teams to the sword but I have a feeling they could get three or four here. Try Over 3.5 goals at around 2/1 for small stakes.
19.45 Deportivo v Villarreal
Anyone who saw Villarreal against Barcelona last week will have the visitors down here as a banker. They did everything but win and only a late Messi free-kick cost them the points. Six of the last eight meetings today were Under 2.5 goals but four of the last six Deportivo home games were Over even though four of Villarreal’s last six away were also Under. Gut feel is an away win and as Deportivo have failed to score at home just once, that means Overs is likely at around 13/10.
Sunday 15th Jan 17
11.00 Valencia v Espanyol
What has happened to the once great Valencia who are in a relegation battle and also out of the cup. They have not won in eight matches and need three points asap. Espanyol have lost just once in eight games, winning four so must be considered at 3/1. The fixture usually produces goals, 11 of the last 12 were Over 2.5 including the last six in Valencia where Valencia won five of those. If you can get around 1.90 for Over 2.5 goals snap it up.
15.15 Celta de Vigo v Alaves
Alaves keep surprising and are now unbeaten in five, four away. This will be tough though as Celta are tough to beat at home and but for a blip against Sevilla, they would have won their last six. Two in form teams who may cancel each other out with both teams to score at around 1.9o probably a fair play.
19.45 Sevilla v Real Madrid
The top two meet in what should be a cracker. In the last 12 head to head, 10 were Over 2.5 goals with seven Over 3.5 goals. In the six games in Seville, four were Over 4.5 goals. This is the third meeting in eleven days with two meetings today in the cup, 3-0 to Real and a 3-3 draw in Seville. The heart says Sevilla, the head says Real as they are so strong at present. If you like fancy correct scores, those six recent meetings today in Seville ended 3-2, 2-3, 2-1, 1-0, 2-6 and 2-6. Real to win 4-3?
