Trading Focus: La Liga 11th-12th February 2017 – The Best Of this weekend’s Spanish action covered by our trading experts…………………………..
Sat 11th February
12.00 Real Betis v Valencia
Real Betis have won the last four head to head in Seville and are in great form at
home. They are unbeaten in six at home winning three with three draws. In those six
games only one was Over 2.5 goals. Valencia are still struggling, they look like they
are about to turn the corner and then lose again. They have won one, drawn one and
lost four of their last six away and those games produce goals, five of the six Over
2.5 goals. It is hard to back either side but I can see goals.
15.15 Alaves v Barcelona
Alaves shocked Barcelona in the Nou Camp in September and are having a great
season, sitting mid-table and reaching the Copa Del Rey final where they will again
face the Catalan giants. Barca should prove too strong here but they need to be
careful as Alaves have lost just twice at home this season. Barcelona to win but it
may be closer than the odds suggest.
17.30 Athetic Bilbao v Deportivo
In the last seven head to head there have been four draws, with two of the last three
in Bilbao ending 1-1. Five of those seven meetings today were Under 2.5 goals but recent
form for both teams has seen goals, four of Athletic’s last five at home and three of
Depor’s last five away have gone Over 2.5. Since losing to Barcelona in their first
home game, Athletic have been unbeaten whilst Depor have failed to win on the
road this season, managing five draws. The draw might be a player but Bilbao’s
strength at home suggests that the visitors have it to do. Bilbao 2-1 and 3-1 for
correct score trades as Deportivo have scored in their last seven away.
Sun 12th February
11.00 Villarreal v Malaga
A banker home win for most people so let’s see what the stats say. Malaga have not
won away this season managing five draws. Villarreal have won seven and lost and
drawn twice in nine home games. In watching Villarreal you get the feeling that they
could take a team apart very easily but often settle for just winning. The head to
head shows Villarreal winning the last four with seven of the last ten Under 2.5 goals.
The most recent results in Villarreal were 1-0, 2-1, 1-1, 2-1 and 1-1 confirming the
theme of tight matches. If you bet Villarreal you may have a lot of sweating to do
throughout the game so perhaps you could try a small Lay and hope Malaga score
first or can hold them for 60 minutes, to trade out, but at present that price is a bit
big. I will be leaving well alone.
17.30 Las Palmas v Sevilla
Both sides missed out last week, Sevilla drawing at home with Las Palmas losing at
Granada. There have been only three meetings today between the two in recent seasons
with Sevilla winning the two home games and Las Palmas winning their home game.
The side from Gran Canaria are unbeaten at home this season and Sevilla will have
to be at their very best to get a result. I fancy Sevilla will score and the game could
be a draw but BTTS is the favoured option in the game.
19.45 Atletico Madrid v Celta Vigo
Recent meetings today have seen Atletico get the better of this fixture particularly away
where they have won three of the last five. At home they have won three of four with
a 1-1 draw and as they have returned to some sort of form, won last three at home,
they must be the selection. I have a feeling there may be goals but don’t really wish
to play that so 2-0 and 3-0 to trade correct scores.
