After their 5-0 home romp at Wembley on Friday night, England now need just a point against San Marino in their final World Cup qualifying game on Monday.

However, with San Marino in a run of 125 games without a win and their only victory coming in a friendly back in 2004, then it will be one of the sporting shocks of all time if England aren’t grabbing all three points here.

There is also no team ranked higher than San Marino in the current FIFA World Rankings – they sit at 210.

The Three Lions did, however, famously let in an early goal to San Marino back in 1993, thanks to an error by former defender Stuart Pearce, but they went onto win the game 7-1.

The nations have since faced-off five more times and the aggregate score has been a whopping 29-0!

England have won three of their last five against San Marino 5-0 too and with this score line also being popular with the recent Euro 2020 runners-up (2 of last 3), then this is sure to appeal at 6.50.

The match betting is pointless, with England at 1.01, the draw 26.00 and San Marino 51.00 – the draw and San Marino prices are actually a bit of a joke and should both be 10 times those odds!

The Both Teams To Score market is not much better, with ‘NO’ sitting at just 1.14, while Over 2.5 Goals in the game is an even worse 1.04.

England v Albania – World Cup Qualifier (Fri 12th Nov 21)

As always, with England team news will be key but there is talk of Southgate giving fringe, or even some new players, chances here. Harry Kane banged in a first half hat-trick in their last game to take his England tally of goals to 44, and he’ll be keen to start to get a few more  added to that haul as he eyes up breaking more England records. He’s 2.87 (1st) or 1.10 (anytime).

Arsenal’s Smith-Rowe came on as sub in their last game and could figure again – he’s 6.50 (1st) or 1.57 (anytime), while Palace’s Conor Gallagher has made a top start to his loan spell with the Eagles and is another name rumoured to be involved – he’s 8.50 (1st) or 1.90 (anytime).

Games like this in the international arena are always non-spectacles and when it comes to finding a betting angle then most people will only have a few options and that’s to delve into the goals markets.

As mentioned, Over 2.5 Goals is short at 1.04, but if we look ahead in this market then Over 5.50 is tempting at 1.61, while Over 6.50 goals is 2.20.

6-0, at 6.00 is the favourite in the correct score market, but if you fancy more then 7-0 is at 7.00, 8-0 is on offer at 9.00, 9-0 at 13.00 and 10-0 at 21.00.

England’s biggest win over San Marino was an 8-0 home win in 2013, while in recent times (since 2019) San Marino have been batted 9-0 twice by Russia (2019) and Belgium (2019), while in 2016 Croatia put 10 past them.

Overall, it’s a game that England will be expected to win to nil and in the process score at least 5 goals. Many will opt for a few correct scored ranging from 4-0 up to 10-0, but the safer call looks to be to just stick with the OVER 5.5 Goals option at 1.61 – meaning we’ll be looking for 6+ goals in the game.
