Another big week in the Spanish La Liga with games starting from Saturday 28th April 2018 – our football trading expert take a look at the best of the action.
We are at that time of year when some teams need to win and others don’t so we need to tread a little more carefully and also be aware that bookmakers tend to over react when teams need to win. We can sometimes take advantage as contrary to popular belief, teams with nothing to play for, often try just as hard with new contracts, transfers etc to think of.

Real Sociedad v Athletic Bilbao
A fierce local Derby but with nothing more than local bragging rights to play for. Bilbao have won on their last two trips to San Sebastian. Probably the most interesting facts here are that there were five draws in the last eight meetings today and that seven of those eight were Under 2.5 goals. If we combine both of those we need to be playing in the correct score market and backing 0-0 and 1-1 with a view to trading.
Villarreal v Celta Vigo
Villarreal need to win to keep their European hopes alive, Celta are in mid-table safety. The last four meetings today in Villarreal have seen two wins apiece but the two times the home side won were by 5-0 and 4-1. Safest option may be to play Over 2.5 goals at 1.73 and hope Villarreal are in the mood.
Getafe v Girona
The two have only met in the top flight on one occasion with Girona winning 1-0 at home and both, amazingly, have an outside chance of European football next season. I think the most likely outcome here is Under 2.5goals with five of Getafe’s last eight being Under and five of Girona’s last eight the same. Getafe’s last three at home have all been Under 2.5 goals and the price of 1.57 is about right but hardly exciting. Getafe’s current form is the stronger and perhaps a small interest on them at around Evs is the way to go.
