La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Friday 4th January 2019
Espanyol v Leganes
Following an unbeaten run of six games, Espanyol have now lost their last six games scoring just three goals. Five of the six were Over, as they conceded sixteen, so may have a defensive issue, however they will have no doubt been working on that during the “break”. Leganes are unbeaten in seven and have become solid defensively, with five of those games ending level. Six of those seven games ended Under 2.5 goals and that looks a likely option here although I wouldn’t count them out from winning, as they could hit Espanyol on the break. Four recent head to head, saw two wins apiece with two Under and two Over. We could either chance the visitors at 4.50 or Lay Espanyol at 2.00 with preference for the former as a trading option.
Saturday 5th January 2019
Alaves v Valencia
This is a game that should produce goals as the four recent head to head have all gone Over 2.5 goals, with Valencia winning three of them. Alaves have not lost in eight games at home and Valencia have lost only two of their last fifteen games. The problem with backing Valencia is that they draw too often, ten of seventeen games this season. Stay with Overs as a trading option at 2.40.
Sunday 6th January 2019
Sevilla v Atletico Madrid
A potential cracker with Atletico winning on four of their last six visits with one draw. They have lost just once this season and are unbeaten in fourteen, with six draws. Sevilla are also in form and are unbeaten in eight, with four draws, and just one loss in their last thirteen. A tough game to call with it as likely to end 3-3 as it is 0-1 so where do we start. At 1.91 a small stake on Both Teams To Score might be the best way to go.
Getafe v Barcelona
Getafe have been playing well and are unbeaten in five with just one defeat in nine. Barcelona have won their last four and lost just two all season. They have won four and drawn one of their last five visits to Getafe and four of the last six overall head to head. Getafe have managed three draws in the last seven head to head so all is not lost but even at 7.50 it would be difficult to recommend them even as a trading option. I think Barcelona -1 on the handicap should allow us to trade for a profit.
Real Madrid v Real Sociedad
Real Madrid have won five of their last six games and Sociedad have lost their last four so on current form this is a home banker. What does jump out from the stats is goals and this fixture has produced plenty in recent seasons. Madrid have won the last seven meetings today at home all Over 2.5 goals with six Over 3.5 goals and five Over 4.5 goals. The overall head to head is similar with twelve of the last thirteen Over 2.5 goals and ten of the last thirteen Over 3.5 goals and seven of those games Over 4.5 goals. Obviously the bookies factor this in but Evs for Over 3.5 goals is a trading option although I prefer Real Madrid -1 on the handicap at 1.80 as a better option.
