La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Saturday 2nd February 2019
Levante v Getafe
Levante have lost four of their last six and Getafe have lost just two of their last nine, to Barca and Atletico. On current form the visitors have to be considered but four of the last five head to head in Levante have ended in a draw. Eight of the last ten meetings today ended Under 2.5 goals so a low scoring win for Getafe looks the play. You could try trading the correct scores around 1-1 and 0-1 for a green book.
Real Sociedad v Athletic Bilbao
The Basque Derby and this will be fiercely fought especially with Sociedad four game sunbeaten and Bilbao on a seven-game unbeaten run. That current form doesn’t tell all the story as Sociedad have won only two at home all season and Bilbao just the once away. The recent head to head in San Sebastián have ended 3-1, 0-2, 0-0, 1-1 and 2-0 so not a lot of clues there. This is a tough one with the obvious shout being a draw which would probably suit both teams. Sociedad have struggled to score at home and have drawn a blank in five of ten games. For that reason, I think a small Lay of the home side at 2.30 with a view to trading out at some point if it is still level in the second half or if Athletic lead.
Barcelona v Valencia
A fixture that has produced some great games over the years with both teams scoring in their last seven meetings today which included three draws, although all in Valencia. Four of the last five meetings today in Camp Nou have gone Over 2.5 goals but unsurprisingly, the bookies have that covered at 1.36 so the better value is clearly in them both scoring for which we can get 1.66 as Valencia have scored in their last seven games and look to be coming back to their best.
Celta Vigo v Sevilla
Celta have lost their last five games, despite leading in the last three of them. They are suffering from lack of confidence at present and cannot keep a clean sheet. Sevilla need to take this game by the scruff of the neck and go at Celta from the start, but they haven’t been impressive in recent games, although their 5-0 drubbing of Levante last weekend will have done wonders for their confidence. They lost 4-0 here last season but that came during a period where both were on losing runs. I fancy Sevilla can win this, but I’m not interested at 2.05 and as the last five head to head have gone Over 2.5 goals, the Over 2.5 goals price at 1.75 probably offers us better value.

Real Betis v Atletico Madrid
A game that might be dull based on recent meetings today between the two sides, with the last five being Under 2.5 goals and seven of the last eight the same. The last four meetings today in Seville ended 0-1, 1-1, 0-1 and 0-2 and on current form Atletico should be good enough to win here, they have only lost once in the last thirteen head to head. If they have serious title aspirations, then they cannot really afford to lose any more games so as is their way, expect them to defend heavily if they lead. Betis are no mugs but are their own worst enemy by playing too negatively and that should make it comfortable for Los Rojiblancos. Atletico to win at 2.25 and a small stake on Atletico to win to nil at 3.50.
Real Madrid v Alaves
Have Real Madrid turned the corner? Three wins on the bounce would suggest so however the two wins over Betis and Sevilla were hardly impressive and they look a side short of a couple of top-class players. That said, Bales is back and that may make a difference and they catch an Alaves side on the back of two defeats following a great start to the season. Five recent head to head at this level has seen four Real wins and one for Alaves with the two games in Madrid ending 4-0 and 3-0. Try trading correct scores around those two, 3-0 and 4-0 with a view to greening up if possible.

Rayo Vallecano v Leganés
A real “six-pointer” local derby, even in February as a win for either would hugely boost their chances of survival in La Liga. They have only one recent meeting at the top-level which Leganes won 1-0 at home in August. This may come down to whether Rayo can break down Leganes as they have won four of their last five which should have been five but for a late fight back by Sociedad. Leganes have drawn four of their last seven and may play for a draw. Rayo at 2.20 can be considered although it may be tight and 1-0 is a real option with preference for the home side and trade for the stake back if they lead.
