La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Saturday 26th January 2019
Sevilla v Levante
The Head to head in seven recent meetings today has seen Sevilla win three with three draws. In Seville the games have finished 0-0, 3-1 and 1-1 so Levante have a chance on recent history. Sevilla played well in the first half at Real last weekend and at home should really have too much for Levante, but the visitors did win their first game in six last weekend, so may put up a decent fight. Trading the correct score market around 2-1 and 3-1 appeals as a way to end up with a nice green book.
Atletico Madrid v Getafe
A local derby where Atletico have won the last nine meetings today and five of the last eight meetings today have been won by 2-0. Atletico have lost just once this season so should be “good things” here, although Getafe have lost one in eight and lost just one away all season. Another interesting stat here is that in the last twelve head to head, one side has failed to score so backing Atletico to win to Nil at 2.10 looks a fair option for a possible trade out late in the game.
Athletic Bilbao v Real Betis
Athletic have won the last four head to head at home in Bilbao by 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 and 2-1. They have also found a bit of form and are unbeaten in six, but they don’t score a lot. Betis are clearly capable of winning this, but which Betis will turn up? I think the safe option here is Both Teams To Score at 1.75.
Sunday 27th January 2019
Girona v Barcelona
Only three previous meetings today at this level but Girona have managed to draw one of them, 2-2 in the Camp Nou. Barcelona are in no mood to be denied at present and have won their last seven with Girona managing just four draws in their last four home games. Barcelona at -1 on the handicap at 1.91 looks a fair option.
Valencia v Villarreal
Another local derby where seven of the last eight meetings today have all finished Under 2.5 goals. Villarreal have won on their last three visits and perhaps this will start a turn round in their form. Villarreal have won only one of their last fourteen games so it would be very difficult to make a case for them, but I do think they can frustrate Valencia who have won only twice at home this season and I would rather lay them at 1.91 than back them. Under 2.5 goals as a trading option at 1.83 is the other option here.
Espanyol v Real Madrid
The last five overall meetings today have all been Under 2.5 goals with Real successful on three of their last four visits to Espanyol. Real do not look like a side about to explode and tear teams apart but one week it will all click, and they will put some side to the sword. As Espanyol have lost eight of their last nine, it could well be them but Real lack a cutting edge without Bale and Kroos and will settle for the win. Chance Real to win to Nil at 3.50.
Monday 28th January 2019
Alaves v Rayo Vallecano
Only one recent meeting at this level which was the reverse fixture in September where Alaves went to Vallecano and beat them 5-1. Alaves are unbeaten at home this season so there is no need to desert them here, but can they win? I think that Rayo are decent but not as good away so take Alaves at 2.20 with the option to trade out if they lead.
