La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Friday 21st December 2018
Girona v Getafe
Girona had been in decent form, until two defeats in their last two games. Getafe are so frustrating as on their day, they are a decent outfit. They have lost just once away and managed five draws so tactically they look solid. Two recent meetings today were both Under 2.5 goals and this fixture ended 1-0 last season. This could easily end 1-1 as have five of the last six Getafe away games but the obvious call is Unders although that is around 1.50 so a small Lay of Under 1.5 goals at 2.50 with a view to trading out during the first half might pay dividends.
Saturday 22nd December 2018
Atletico Madrid v Espanyol
Atletico are mounting a serious title challenge and their home form is really strong, unbeaten with just two drawn games including against Barca. Espanyol have lost five on the bounce and are in no mental shape for this game which Atletico should win comfortably. The one downside is that in the six most recent head to head in Madrid, the games have ended 0-2, 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 1-0 and 1-0, so all Under 2.5 goals suggesting close games. I think chancing 2-0 and 3-0 to trade in the correct score markets should give us the chance to get a green book.
Barcelona v Celta
Apart from the stunning defeat at home by Betis recently, Barca carry all before them and that is their only defeat in ten. Celta are on a three-match unbeaten run and did win here four seasons ago and also managed a draw 2-2 last year. I fancy Barca to win to nil at as they have not conceded in their last three, but we can back Celta +3 goals on the handicap at around 2.10 and that might be worth chancing. Barcelona could quite easily win this game by three or four but with the mid-season break coming up, they may settle for getting ahead and easing off a little.
Sunday 23rd December 2018
Leganes v Sevilla
Sevilla continue to mount a title challenge, and these are the games they have to win despite the good form of Leganes who are unbeaten in six. Sevilla themselves, have lost just once in twelve games, away at Barcelona and they remain just three points behind the Catalan giants. Only four recent meetings today between the pair with two wins for Sevilla, one win for Leganes and one draw, both teams scoring in all four games and at 1.80 both teams scoring looks the way to go.
Rayo Vallecano v Levante
The last five head to head between these two in Madrid have gone Over 2.5 goals. Rayo have won only two all season, so it would be a huge leap of faith to bet them at 2.10 and I really don’t want to be backing Levante away from home at 3.20. Over 2.5 goals seems the most obvious play here but at 1.66 the bookies have all angles covered so we will go with a Lay of the home side with a view to trading.
