Friday 14th September
Huesca v Rayo Vallecano
The big question here is how will the home side react to an 8-2 thumping by Barcelona as they had made a fair start to the season and even had the temerity to take the lead against the champions. These two have met in recent years in Segunda division and seven of the last eight encounters have gone Over 2.5 goals. The last three home games for Huesca against Rayo ended in home wins, 2-1, 2-0 and 4-1. I think we need to give Huesca another chance as they are certainly capable of winning this at home. The price of 2.20 is no more than fair so the suggestion is to lay for your stake back if they take the lead.
Saturday 15th September
Atletico Madrid v Eibar
The sides have met just eight times at the top level with Atletico winning seven and one draw. In Madrid the scores have been 2-2, 1-0, 3-1 and 2-1 so there is a little ray of hope for the visitors, but the draw was at the end of last season when Atletico couldn’t win the league. Atletico are 1.40 and I’m sure that if they has started the season in better form, then they would be a much shorter price. If short prices are not your cup of tea, then Atletico to win 2-0 as a fun bet should give you a run for your money.
Real Sociedad v Barcelona
This used to be the fixture that Barcelona had trouble with, as in the last eight visits they were beaten five times with two draws but they did manage a win last season after going 2-0 behind early on. The top and bottom of this is that Barcelona are by far and away the better side and now that they have ended the jinx, they should win comfortably but taking 1.44 on a side away from home in La Liga, is the quickest way to the poor house. I think the -1 Barcelona on the handicap at 2.10 can be covered by the away side.
Valencia v Real Betis
The interesting stat here is that Betis have failed to score on five of the last six visits, losing four and with one nil draw but in between did win 3-2 two seasons ago. This game looks like it should have goals but Betis have found the net only once this season and the game may not be as attacking as the stats suggest. I think Valencia may have to grind out a result here and Valencia to win to nil is the tentative suggestion at 3.25 especially until we see Betis produce more attacking displays.
Athletic Bilbao v Real Madrid
A fixture that favours Real with three wins and two draws on their last six visits and they have started the season, much better than I had believed would happen under the new manager. Bilbao have played only twice, with one game called off but they have won one and drawn one and both games were Over 2.5 goals. Recent meetings today in Bilbao have been Under but this is a new Real side and they seem to be playing with a different type of freedom so I think we will see goals. Finding an angle is not so easy as Real could win just as easily by 2-0 or by 4-2, the way they play their football. I think a sensible play is Real Madrid to win and both teams to score available at 2.75 and that should give us a good run for our money.
Sunday 16th September
Sevilla v Getafe
The last six meetings today in Seville have seen one draw and five home wins and Sevilla will be desperate to get back on a winning track after an unlucky loss in the Derby game with Betis following the harshest of sending offs. Probably not a game to get too heavily involved in and Unders would be the suggestion for those of you looking to get involved as the last three meetings today have all been Under and 2.00 seems fair.
Note: Odds are subject to change.
