La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Friday 14th December 2018
Celta Vigo v Leganes
Only four meetings today at the top level and all four finished Under 2.5 goals and two wins apiece, one win at home and one win away each. On current form, Leganes are unbeaten in five whilst Celta have won their last two following two defeats. Celta games tend to have goals whilst Leganes don’t. The safest play here might be to Lay Leganes, but that price is too big, so we could chance a small stake on Celta at 1.85 with a view to taking our stake back if they lead.

Valladolid v Atletico Madrid
Atletico have won the last six meetings today although they haven’t played each other for four years. Atletico have lost just once, back in September, and this should be three points, but Valladolid have won five times this season including last time out and will make things tough. The biggest worries for Atletico could be the midweek fixture away in Belgium and the fact that they have drawn five away this season, winning only once. I was looking to chance a small stake on Atletico -1 on the handicap at 3.25 but it is risky as if they lead they often sit back on that lead. It might be safer to just go with an away win at 1.80.
Eibar v Valencia
Eibar have had the better of this fixture in recent times with three wins and a draw from the last four meetings today. Eibar have beaten Real 3-0 at home so far and last week played a thrilling 4-4 draw with Levante that they probably should have won. Valencia are a strange team to work out this season, too many draws, nine in total, but at least they are avoiding defeat as with the 90th minute equaliser against Sevilla at the weekend. It feels like at some point they will go on a decent run but at the prices, Eibar are a touch big at 3.10 at home although those of you more risk averse may prefer to Lay Valencia keeping the draw on side.
Sunday 16th December 2018
Sevilla v Girona
The two have only met twice at this level with Sevilla winning both 1-0. Sevilla are second in La Liga and only Barcelona have beaten them in eleven games, but they face a resurgent Girona who are unbeaten in six including two away wins. In fact, Girona have not lost on the road this season. It is hard to recommend betting Sevilla at 1.50 even though they are the better side because of Girona’s away form. I don’t see this being an open game and can see the visitors frustrating Sevilla for a long period. Under 2.5 goals at 2.20 is one possible angle with a view to trading out if the game is 0-0 at HT however as Girona have not been behind at HT in any away game this season so a small Lay of Sevilla at 2.10 in the HT market is preferred, again with a view to trading.
Espanyol v Real Betis
No draw in the last seven meetings today between these two and at Espanyol, recent games have finished 1-0, 2-1, 0-3, 0-0 and 1-0. Espanyol have lost four on the spin whilst Betis have won three of their last four. Betis play away in Europe in midweek, but they have already qualified and at 3.40 they are worth chancing away from home with a view to trading if they are ahead.
Levante v Barcelona
Backing teams at 1.25, away from home, is not advisable even one as good as Barcelona who sit top of the league and who have lost just twice this season. Levante have been a revelation in recent weeks with just one loss in nine games and they did beat Barca 5-4 last season, albeit when the title was already wrapped up. Barcelona had won the previous five head to head so not a lot should be looked into that defeat. Levante have scored in all games bar one so Barcelona to win and Both Teams To Score at 2.25 looks fair value.
