Saturday 10th February 2018
Villarreal v Alaves
Villarreal suffered their first defeat in seven games when losing 2-1 at Betis last weekend and they take on an Alaves side fresh from a 2-1 win against Celta Vigo. Villarreal have lost just twice at home, Alaves won just twice away so the home side are likely to be popular here. Just three meetings today at this level and Alaves have won two of them including here last season by 2-0. There is a small case for backing Alaves at the prices on offer but Villarreal are really tough to beat at home losing to just Sevilla and Barcelona this season. Villarreal to win but they can be frustrating.
Real Madrid v Real Sociedad
Real Madrid have won the last seven meetings today here by twenty five to eight so Sociedad will not fancy the trip but they may never get a better chance to break their hoodoo. They broke their own losing four streak sequence with a comprehensive defeat of Deportivo 5-0, and with Real only winning three of their last eight there is a chance here that anything could happen. A small Lay of Real is probably a safer option with a view to trading out if Sociedad lead and let’s hope Real have one eye on the following weeks Champions League. For those not comfortable with that play, goals is the obvious option but the bookies have that well covered.
Leganes v Eibar
Only three meetings today at this top level with Eibar winning two and one draw. Both sides have performed above expectations this season so far and this could be a tight game, Eibar arrive following a 5-1 thrashing of Sevilla last week and have not lost in four away. Leganes dumped Real Madrid out of the cup so are high on confidence. The current price of 3.00 (2/1) is a bit of an insult to a side who are playing so well and despite Eibar being decent, we cannot let Leganes go unbacked.

Celta Vigo v Espanyol
Five recent meetings today in Vigo has seen three home wins and two draws and Espanyol with only one away win this season will find this a tough trip. Celta are the most frustrating team in La Liga, one week they run rings round the top sides and then follow up with abject displays against relegation contenders. This is one of those typical banana skins although Espanyol had a really tough match on a heavy pitch against Barcelona and that swings me in favour of Celta and the game should have goals.
Barcelona v Getafe
Last weekend’s draw ended a run of seven wins for the unbeaten Barcelona who should get back on track here. They had a tough game on a waterlogged pitch but class got them a point late on. Coutinho looked useful in patches and shouldn’t take long to settle in properly. Getafe have lost one in six so are in a decent bit of form, drawing the last three but have not won in eight away. In the last ten head to head there have been two draws and eight wins for Barca. In the last four meetings today in Barcelona, the home side have scored six in three of them. Barcelona to score 4 or more goals is available at 2.25 (5/4) which I think is fair.
