Trading Focus
With the FA Cup taking place in England, there is no Premiership football and the Championship is a reduced programme. The Bundesliga has not been brilliant for us recently so this week we have just a couple of games to look at and the English Championship threw up very little in solid stats so we will just post a couple of brief ones.
Bundesliga
Mainz v Werder Bremen
The last five head to head in Mainz have ended with three away wins, one draw and one home win. Four of those games were Over 2.5 goals. Add to that seven of the last ten meetings today between the two were Over 2.5 goals and it looks like we have our trade this week. In 70% of Mainz matches and 80% of Bremen matches this season there have been Over 2.5 goals. As Mainz are the second top first half scorers in Germany behind Bayern, we are risking it if we wait ten minutes for a better price so we can do half a bet/trade before kick-off and half after fifteen minutes if still 0-0. If there is an early goal we at least still have a bet. Over 2.5 goals the call.
Koln v Schalke
Another match that tends to produce goals and Schalke have a decent record in Cologne. In the last five head to head there, four of five were Over and the visitors won three losing two. In the last eight head to head overall, seven were Over 2.5 goals. Schalke have scored in six of their last seven away with Koln scoring in eight of all nine home games. We have two choices here, Over 2.5 goals @2.25 or both teams to score @1.91. My preference is the latter, both teams to score.
English Championship
Barnsley v Brighton
If you are looking for a shock this might be it. Brighton sit second in the league and quite rightly but there have been a couple of wobbles just recently, losing two and drawing one of their last four away and drawing at home to Ipswich. They are still a top side but even the best have bad spells during a season and in Barnsley they meet a side who have lost just once in their last six home games. They have turned their season round and sit in ninth just off the play-offs. In three recent head to heads in Barnsley, there have been two 0-0 draws and a 2-1 win for Barnsley. Not the most obvious bet but a Lay of Brighton @ 2.05 may pay dividends.
Ipswich v Leeds
Leeds are on fire and look like they will certainly be in the play-offs but they face a tough trip to Ipswich where they have traditionally struggled. On their last six visits, Ipswich have won five and all six games were Over 2.5 goals. On recent form it has to be Leeds, but they have won only two of their last six away, six of their last eight have gone Over 2.5 so games do have goals. Four of Ipswich’s last five home games have also gone Over 2.5 goals. The clear options here are both teams to score (2.0) or Over 2.5 goals (2.30) with my preference being Over 2.5 goals.
