Not a very busy week this week on Trading Focus as stats were few and far between in the games that we looked at. There are plenty more weeks in the season ahead.
English Championship
Friday 7.45
Wolves v Birmingham
Wolves have struggled at home this season and have won just two of their last ten. Birmingham have not won in seven away so maybe neither will be good enough to win! The last five meetings today at Wolves have ended 0-0, 0-0, 1-0, 1-0 and 0-1 so we may not be in for a goal fest. Wolves have definitely been the better of these two in recent weeks with Birmingham really struggling under Zola. It looks a certainty for Under 2.5 goals as neither can afford to lose so they may cancel each other out. Wolves possibly 1-0 but a draw wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
Saturday 3.00
Leeds v Sheff Wed
A top of the table Yorkshire derby should see fireworks but may not see goals. My first thought here was goals but Leeds have won seven of the last eight at home with six of those eight Under 2.5 goals. That suggests a rock solid defence but Wednesday have lost just one of their last six so will be no pushovers. The last three head to head at Elland Road have ended 1-1, Wednesday will settle for that again and the 1-1 correct score may be an option for trading.
Bundesliga
Friday 7.30
Wolfsburg v Werder Bremen
This fixture regularly produces goals with nine of the last ten meetings today going Over 2.5 goals. Three of Wolfsburg’s last five home games have gone Over but only two of Bremen’s last five away. Bremen have however scored in their last nine away which is positive. Wolfsburg struggled at the start of the season but five of their last eight league games have gone Over 2.5 goals. Overs looks the call but both teams should score giving an alternative option.
Saturday 2.30
Freiburg v Borussia Dortmund
An amazing stat for this game, the two have met just eleven times at this level and Dortmund have won all eleven. Banker away win. Freiburg at home six of the last seven were Over, and they only failed to score once at home. Six of Dortmund’s last eight away were over and both teams scored in all eight. Of the eleven previous meetings today, nine were Over so this game must have goals. Dortmund to win and Over 2.5 goals is the call.
Sunday 4.30
Schalke v Hoffenheim
Another game for goals as nine of the last twelve meetings today have gone Over 2.5 goals. Hoffenheim have scored in nine of ten away this season whilst Schalke’s last five games at home were Under, their previous five at home were Over. Schalke have lost just one in their last five at home and looked solid against Hertha Berlin so Hoffenheim will need to be at their best. Both teams to score looks the obvious shout here.
