One of the Premier League season highlights this Saturday lunchtime as we lock ourselves in for another Merseyside Derby with Everton welcoming their bitter rivals Liverpool to Goodison Park.
All eyes will be on the Champions – Liverpool – to see how they react after facing a 7-2 drubbing at the hands of Aston Villa before the International break, and it won’t be easy not only facing their local rivals, but also an Everton side that are top of the table after 4 straight wins this season.
Liverpool were clearly missing two key players last time – Mane and their goalie – Alisson, but that last defeat to Villa was still one of the biggest shocks in Premier League history!
Mane has returned to training after recovering from testing positive for Covid-19 and could figure, so that’s a boast for Liverpool, but Alisson is still out injured, which would be a concern after the Reds leaked 7 goals last time.
The match betting ahead of this game suggests the Reds will get back to winning ways, with Liverpool on offer at 1.80, the draw 4.20 and Everton 3.75 – despite being the home side.
However, it’s a fixture that has been a tight one in recent seasons. The last campaign saw a 0-0 draw played out in this game – in fact ALL of the last three repeat fixtures have also ended that way, 0-0. You can back that same score at 19.00.
Plus, with 10 draws from the last 18 head-to-heads (56%), then the 4.20 on another stalemate doesn’t look bad value at all, while a massive 7 of the last 8 (88%) repeat fixtures also ended with the points shared!
Liverpool are unbeaten in the last 9 repeat fixtures too, but, as mentioned, a lot of those have been draws. But if you go back a bit further, you’ll notice that the Reds are actually unbeaten in their last 22 games (in all comps) vs Everton, so for the short-priced lovers out there, the 1.25 on Liverpool/Draw in the ‘Double Chance’ market might appeal.
With low-scoring games already mentioned in past fixtures, then other options might be the Under 2.5 goals at 2.50, while both teams NOT to score at 2.37 might also catch the eye.
Looking at the scoring markets, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin has hit the ground running this season and was also on target for England during the International break. He’s on offer at 7.00 (1st) or 2.60 (anytime). Looking at the main Liverpool men – Mo Salah is 3.75 (1st) and 1.66 (1.66), while Firmino is 7.00 (1st) and 2.60 (anytime).
Overall, all the pressure will be on Liverpool to bounce back in this fixture and it won’t be easy playing an Everton side that are full of confidence at the moment. With that in mind, the DRAW option at 4.20 does stand out as value – especially with this fixture having a habit of ending in a stalemate, but I’m going to opt for the UNDER 2.5 GOALS option at 2.50 – a bet that has paid out in ALL of the last six repeat fixtures and also in 70% of the last 10 head-to-heads overall.
JUICESTORM VERDICT: UNDER 2.50 GOALS @2.50
