England, who are around the 17.00 mark to win the World Cup before the tournament get their Group G campaign going on Monday night (18th June) with a clash against Tunisia.
Of course, the Three Lions can be fully expected to get off to the perfect start here with 3 points and the betting suggests that too. England are on offer at 1.40, the Draw 4.60 and Tunisia 10.5.
There are, however, just 9 places between the two nations if you have faith in the FIFA World Rankings, so if you are plunging in on England in the 90mins match betting market it might not all be plain-sailing.
Tunisia head here having only lost 0-1 to Spain and that was a late goal, while that’s been their only defeat in their last 10. Recently they’ve held the current European Champions – Portugal to a 2-2 draw and also beat Costa Rica, a team England also recently played, 1-0.
Okay, England put one more goal passed Costa Rica in a recent 2-0 win in one of their preparation matches, but really based on that form line this game might be a bit closer than the betting suggests. Tunisia have also drawn 50% of their last 6 games.
Having said that, England come here in great order too. The Three Lions are unbeaten in 10 and have let in just two goals in their last 8 matches. Yes, they are not the most exciting to watch, but Southgate seems to have sorted things at the back and with the likes of Sterling, Kane, Rashford, Vardy and Welbeck then scoring goals shouldn’t be an issue either.
Both teams DIDN’T score in 7 of England’s last 10 games but at just 1.53 there is little value here. At a slightly better 1.70 the UNDER 2.5 GOALS option appeals more though.
7 of England’s last 8 games (88%) have seen less than 3 goals scored by both sides and these opening group games can often be cagey affairs with sides not wanting to throw away their chances so early in the tournament.
We can expect Tunisia to be looking to take draws from their games against England and Belgium and then with a win over Panama this might give them a fighting chance of qualifying.
However, the class of England is expected to get them through here. England’s new captain – Harry Kane – is going to be popular in all their games and he can be backed here at 3.60 (1st) or 1.83 (anytime) and the later of those options doesn’t look a bad option as we know he’ll at least be starting in one of the forwards positions.
If you think Tunisia can score, then their Wahbi Khazri might be the man to do so. He’s Tunisia’s current leading scorer with 12 goals and can be backed at 17.00 (1st) or 7.00 (anytime).
All-in-all a fascinating opening game that England are expected to scrape through, but it might not be totally easy ride for the Three Lions. We’ll be playing this one with Harry Kane to score at anytime as the Spurs man looks to grab his 14th goal for his country, while the 1.70 on their being Under 2.5 Goals also makes a fair amount of appeal.
JUICESTORM VERDICT: HARRY KANE TO SCORE (anytime) @1.83
