The final Euro 2020 warm-up game for Gareth Southgate’s England this Sunday sees the Three Lions take on Romania at the Riverside Stadium in Middlesbrough.

The sides are separated by 39 places on the FIFA World Rankings, with England at 4^th and Romania down at 43^rd, so it’s no shock to see that reflected in the match betting with England at 1.28, the Draw 5.50 and Romania 10.00.

However, it’s Romania that have the better overall head-to-head record and are actually unbeaten in their last 7 vs England.

That said, they last met 21 years ago in Euro 2000, with that resulting in a 3-2 win for Romania after goals for England from Alan Shearer and Michael Owen.

With 4 of the last 6 head-to-heads ending in DRAWS, this outcome might be popular, and Austria showed in England’s last game that these sorts of teams do have the capability to frustrate the better sides.

But Romania didn’t even qualify for the upcoming European Championships and also head here having lost their last three games. In contrast, England have lost just one of their last seven and that defeat came at the hands of the FIFA ranked number 1 side, Belgium.
