We are back with more Championship action this weekend. Our trading team take a look at the best of the action.
Friday 24th August 2018
Middlesbrough v West Brom
A fascinating encounter here between two sides who should be in a promotion battle come the end of the season. Neither played in midweek so arrive here fresh and both have been scoring goals, thevisitors got seven last week against QPR. Two recent meetings today were in the Premiership and both ended level and that looks a real possibility here with the draw available at 3.25. Despite the recent goals in games involving these two I would not be surprisedif this became a cagey affair and Unders is a real player at 1.73. I prefer to trade the correct score market backing 1-1 with a view to trading out for a green book at some point in the game
Saturday 25th August 2018
Derby v Preston
Derby gained a valuable three points in midweek, not so important in the overall race for the league but more so for current confidence as it can be enormous for the players. I still want to see more before I start siding with them especially at short prices and this solid Preston team is a tough enough test for them. Preston haven’t beaten Derby in the last ten meetings today with just three draws and in the last four head to head at Derby, there have been two draws and three games were Under. Under 2.5 goals looks the most solid we can come up with at around 1.73.
*Before midweek games*
Sheff Wed v Ipswich
Yet another game with a really strong stat and we must weigh that up against current form. Sheff Wed have had a quiet start to the campaign but did win away in the League Cup whilst Ipswich have looked devoid of ideas and were dumped out of the Cup by Exeter. They do however, have a great record here and have won two and drawn four of their last six visits, all four draws were 1-1. Those stats linked to the current form of Wednesday suggest a Lay of the home side at around 2.30 may pay dividends. The correct score 1-1 is currently 6.00.
Norwich v Leeds
A game that suggests there will be goals, the three Norwich games this season have had fourteen goals and the four Leeds games, fifteen, and both have players who are in form in finding the net. Both teams have scored in the last four meetings today at Carrow Road so both teams to score at 1.57 is an obvious shout or Over 2.5 goals at 1.80 with preference for the latter.
Nottingham Forest v Birmingham
Forest are unbeaten but have drawn three of their four games with Birmingham drawing two of their three. Forest look like they are close to really clicking and have pace going forward. The last four meetings today have seen both sides score in all four with three of the four going Over 2.5 goals and I prefer both to score at 1.91. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing the home side to win at 1.83 as if they get in front they are certainly capable of beating Birmingham.
