Championship Trading Focus – Plenty going on in the Championship this weekend and we’ve got the best of the games covered with what we think are the best trading angles.
Just one thing to note, whilst we offer advice here each week, remember it is a trading advice so consider that when getting involved. If we suggest laying a short priced side and they go behind at any point, even after a few minutes, then we can trade out for a profit as that is what it is all about.
We are at that time of year when some teams need to win and others don’t so we need to tread a little more carefully and also be aware that bookmakers tend to over react when teams need to win. We can sometimes take advantage as contrary to popular belief, teams with nothing to play for, often try just as hard with new contracts, transfers etc to think of.

Fulham v Sunderland
Fulham must win but for Sunderland it is too late as they are relegated already. Sometimes teams in their position are dangerous but the gap between these two is huge and Fulham could run up a cricket score if they are really at it. They are unbeaten in twenty-two matches and have scored in all of those games. They are the second highest scorers in the league after Wolves with 76 this season and Sunderland have conceded 78 with only Burton worse. Fulham have a better goal difference over Cardiff by six so it is not imperative to score as many as possible but that shouldn’t stop them. It does put a small doubt in your mind though as they could switch off so it is perhaps best not to be too greedy and stick with Fulham on the handicap -1 at 1.61

Aston Villa v Derby
If Derby had not beaten Cardiff in midweek, it would have been left to Villa to finally end Derby’s hopes of a play-off place, which on all recent form is no more than they deserve. Quite how easily they collapse at the same time each season is a mystery and a fair few of the squad will not be there next season but those three points now mean a draw here and a win at home to Barnsley could see them in the play-offs. Villa have been magnificent in the second half of the season and are safely in the play-offs and not many will fancy playing them. They have won their last three whilst the visitors had lost their last three before the Cardiff game. I would have had Villa as bankers but with Derby perhaps going for a draw, Villa may be slightly off top pace with a play-off place already secured. I would be inclined to try both teams to score for a small stake at 1.83
Sheffield Utd v Preston
The loser of this game will almost certainly be out of the play-offs so the game may become a bit cagey. Obviously with home advantage, Sheffield have got to have a go whilst Preston can take their time a bit more as a draw may still leave them with a decent chance of qualifying on the last day. Can Sheff Utd break Preston down? It may be difficult and a draw looks the play here so try 1-1 correct score.
