Werder Bremen v Dusseldorf
No relevant history to look at so it is purely down to recent form and there is precious little of that to go on. Bremen have lost four and drawn one of their last five including their last three at home whilst Dusseldorf ended a six-game losing run with a victory over Hertha before a brilliant 3-3 draw at Bayern. They have since lost at home to Mainz but may be worth chancing here at 5.50 with a view to trading for a green book if they lead.

Schalke v Dortmund
Last year this would have been a top fixture and whilst it is still an important game, Dortmund are walking over everyone and this could be the same. Schalke have turned the corner after an awful start and have lost on in five, but this Dortmund team are on fire with ten wins and three draws. The hope for Schalke is that this fixture has seen four draws in the last six overall head to head and the last six in Gelsenkirchen ended 2-0, 1-1, 2-2, 2-1, 1-3 and 2-1 meaning they have had the best of it in recent seasons. It seems stupid to oppose Dortmund, and many will think that 2.10 offers some value, but I do think Schalke will push them and I would rather take 1.53 on both teams to score.
Wolfsburg v Hoffenheim
Two teams that really should produce a game with goals but only six of the last ten meetings today were Over 2.5 goals. In Wolfsburg it has been slightly more with four of the last five head to head going Over. Hoffenheim are now unbeaten in six and with Wolfsburg winning three of their last five, we could get a cracker. It has to be goals so let’s chance Over 3.5 goals at 2.40 for a smaller stake, always with a view to trading.
Hertha Berlin v Frankfurt
Three of the last four head to head were Over 2.5 goals, but in Berlin, three of the last four were Under. Both are having good seasons, but Frankfurt suffered a minor blip with defeat at home by Wolfsburg, following a seven-game unbeaten run. Hertha have lost only three all season and recent games have produced goals. If you can get 1.73, which is the current price, Over 2.5 goals looks the way to go but I have a fancy Frankfurt might bounce back quickly although 2.60 is not a fantastic price.
Sunday 9th December 2018
Mainz v Hannover
A fixture where recent stats tell us very little with the eight most recent head to head seeing five Under 2.5 goals with three wins apiece and two draws. The four meetings today in Mainz are not any more helpful with two home wins, an away win and a draw and three of the four Under 2.5 goals. I don’t like playing Unders but there seems a fair chance this will end that way. Mainz are the better side and in better form with three wins in their last four with only the leaders Dortmund beating them in a close game. Hannover have been poor on the road drawing two and five losses and they have lost four of their last five games. It has to be a home win at the available 2.00.
Borussia M’gladbach v Stuttgart
Gladbach continue to sit in second place despite the defeat at Leipzig last time and they should get back on track here. They have won five of the eight most recent head to head and the last four at home ended 2-0, 4-0, 1-1 and 1-1. The surprising stat is that in those eight head to head, only two were Over 2.5 goals. Recent form has seen Stuttgart pick up after a poor start to the season by winning two of their last three games, but this is a different test against a side that have won all six home games by a total of eighteen goals to three. Gladbach -1 on the standard handicap at 2.20 appeals
