Another interesting Group A Euro 2020 clash on Monday as Bulgaria host England.
The Three Lions will be licking their wounds after a 2-1 away defeat to the Czech Rep on Friday night but at least Gareth Southgate’s men have a chance to quickly put that right.
That was England’s first qualification defeat in 10 years, but they still sit top of Group A with 12 points (5 games played), while Bulgaria’s hopes of qualifying are non-existent as they are languishing at the bottom with just 3 points after 6 games.
If the match betting is anything to go by then England should have little trouble getting back to winning way – they are 1.25, with the draw 5.25 and Bulgaria 13.00.
England don’t seem to have any issues going forward – they’ve scored 20 goals in qualification so far and 16 in their last 6 games as played Holland in the Nations Cup back in June too.
However, the Three Lions have also leaked a worrying 9 goals in their last 6 games and with Holland the only team of real world quality in their bunch of six matches then former defender himself – Gareth Southgate – will be looking to put these defensive frailties right sooner, rather than later.
England thrashed Bulgaria 4-0 at Wembley back in September, thanks to a Harry Kane three-timer but with home advantage now we can expect Bulgaria to make life harder for England.
Having said that, the sides have met 11 times before and England are yet to taste defeat, with 7 wins and 4 draws, while Bulgaria have netted just once in their last 9 games against England.
With ALL of the last 3 games going OVER 2.5 GOALS, then this might be another option at 1.67, while both teams ‘DIDN’T’ score in 8 of the last 9 games so the 1.61 here might appeal too.
Harry Kane will be popular as always in the scoring markets – don’t forget, he also netted a hat-trick in this fixture last month – he’s 3.40 (1st) or 1.61 (anytime) – while if you fancy another Kane three-timer you’ll be rewarded at 10.00.
It’s a tricky game to call. Yes, England should win, but they are no value at 1.25. The scoring markets are why the game might be a hard betting one. With England prone to letting one in at the moment the both teams ‘not’ to score option might be risky, so we think the OVER 2.5 GOALS – a bet that paid out for us in the last England game – is worth sticking with at 1.67.
The thinking here is that England will be hurt by that Friday defeat and there is every chance they will come out all guns blazing. Afterall, the last three times they’ve played Bulgaria they’ve scored 3+. However, if there is still a hangover from Friday’s game and the fact England have leaked 9 goals in their last 6 games (all comps) then Bulgaria are certainly in with a chance of finding the back of the net too which will add to our Over 2.5 Goals bet.
Let’s see what happens!
JUICESTORM VERDICT: OVER 2.5 GOALS@ 1.67
