What a week it’s been here at Digitex as move closer to the public testnet launch. We’re excited to confirm that early testing has begun. As you read this, the Digitex Futures exchange is being put through its paces by some of the most experienced traders and influencers around. The remaining 10k traders will be gradually on-boarded by November 30th.
The Testnet Is Already Being Reviewed
You may have seen a sneak peek of Digitex’s Community Manager Jolien’s live stream of the testnet earlier this week. If not, fear not, you’ll soon start seeing screenshots, video demos, and hearing the first initial feedback from our early testers. In fact, on Monday, we’ll be preparing a full report of the feedback we’ve received so far if you can’t wait until the end of the month!
The SmartDec Report Has Landed
In the 10th SmartDec report published on their blog last night, the team reminds us that this is their last report before the testnet launch! They talk about the journey they have been on to get here since taking on the development of the project almost six months ago when they had initial talks with Adam. It really has been an epic ride since May.
Reading into the full SmartDec report is enough to make your head spin as they detail all the hard work and efforts taken to reach the testnet launch. From auditing the legacy code and coming up with new specs to building all the components of the exchange, the work has been relentless.
The team has had to take on astonishingly large tasks from almost entirely re-writing the matching engine to implementing extensive infrastructure around it, building out the web back-end, and working on what they call “the cherished UI.” The UI, they jokingly say has been (and continues to be) redesigned many times because of Adam’s perfectionist tendencies.
They also inform us that the research into the noncustodial side of the exchange has continued, but none of the solutions (from Plasma to zkSNARKS) are quite ready for the high throughput that a live derivatives exchange demands. However, the team is continuing the research and as soon as the technologies are ready, we will proceed.
They wrap up by saying that the bottleneck problem they discovered from the stress-testing has now been resolved and they’ve been advancing with the Trading Page UI. Stay tuned, they say, the next report will fall right before the testnet is fully opened.
