La Liga continues this weekend and, as always, we’ve got the best of the action covered.
Friday 18th January 2019
Getafe v Alaves
Two in form sides with Getafe losing just one in their last seven (against Barca) and Alaves losing just one in six (to Atletico). Three recent head to head shows one win apiece and a draw so this is really down to current form. I’m sure both would settle for a draw, but I can see Getafe nicking this 1-0 so either Lay Alaves or back Getafe with a view to trading.
Saturday 19th January 2019
Real Madrid v Sevilla
This should be a cracker but both struggled last weekend. Real have won the last five head to head in Madrid by 5-0, 4-1, 4-0, 2-1 and 7-3 although this is a different Madrid side. Five of the last eight meetings today have gone Over 4.5 goals with all eight Over 2.5 goals. Real have won six of the last nine and Sevilla had not lost in nine before defeat to Bilbao last weekend. I cannot see either side defending as Sevilla will feel their best chance is to have a go. The safest option might be Over 3.5 goals at around 2.30 as a trading option.
Celta Vigo v Valencia
In nine of the last ten head to head both teams scored with the recent head to head in Vigo ending 1-1, 2-1, 1-5, 1-1 and 2-1. There have been four 1-1 draws in the last nine meetings today which opens up correct score trading. Celta have lost their last three and Valencia tend to draw games, eleven so far this season, so either chance the 1-1 for trading purposes or do Both Teams To Score which may be the safer option.
Sunday 20th January 2019
Villarreal v Athletic Bilbao
Two under achievers this season although Bilbao have found a little form in recent weeks and may have turned the corner. Villarreal’s problem is too many drawn games, eight from nineteen and they have won only once in thirteen. If they don’t start winning games soon, they will be in a real relegation battle. Bilbao had an awful start to the season but are unbeaten in five with three wins and look a different outfit with the confidence coming back. The last three head to head all went Over 2.5 goals and that looks a fair trading option here.
Rayo Vallecano v Real Sociedad
Rayo Vallecano have won their last three and Sociedad had lost four on the bounce but won in the Bernabeu last weekend. On current form the home side must be considered but there may be better trading options. Five of the last six meetings today were Over 2.5 goals including the last two in Madrid, so Overs looks the play if you are trading.
Monday 21st January 2019
Eibar v Espanyol
Eibar had drawn four games before last week’s defeat by Barca so are in a bit of decent form. Espanyol had lost six on the trot before beating Leganes, so it remains to be seen whether they have turned the corner. Eibar have lost two at home this season and Espanyol have won just once on the road so Eibar might be the option to trade here.
