Bet Bot Pro Final Review

Win A copy of BetBotPro: BetBotPro Competition

During the month of October 2008 I had the opportunity to use BetBot Pro to fully cover a mix of UK, Irish, US and South African horse racing and UK greyhounds. The selections have been made using a recovery staking plan of between 60% and 80% over two races where there is a loss. I have currently settled for a recovery of 70%.

I have found the software to be stable and on the couple of occasions where there were CPU challenges because I have several applications running I have been able to close it during racing and it magically takes up where it left off when started again. This is because it writes the daily data, after you have made your selections, in to its own folder.

Regular readers will know that Bet Bot Pro waits to see if a recovery is needed by waiting for Betfair settlement. This will always raise the potential for unnecessary recoveries and this is, indeed, what happens. A fault of the software? Of course not. That is the only way it can operate to be 100% accurate.

The Initial stake I used was £1.00 with a bank of £10,000. I was aiming for a daily return of 1% which was exceeded and I had a stop loss of £4000. The minimum number of runners was 6 and that has been changed to eight for the last week.

One of the most attractive features I found was the Back/Lay Ratio % which I had at 10%. It helps avoid lays where the market is thin and bad value. This is essential for non UK horse racing.

I found Bet Bot Pro very easy to use. There is a free three day trial and there were no problems in set up – it took less than 5 minutes. I set up BetbotPro to run from mid day to midnight and it did its stuff, day in, day out.

There are many “edges” you can get in this and other financial markets. The traditional way to get an edge in horse racing is to study the form and career stats for horses, jockeys and trainers and research course stats by meeting for jockeys and trainers with runners at the relevant meeting – and loads, loads more.

BetbotPro will not, of course, do any of that for you. It’s simply a mechanism for placing bets, either on your specific selections (where hopefully you’ve done some of the above) or going against or with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th favourite.

Bet Bot Pro can automatically place Back OR Lay bets on UK, US, AUS, RSA Horse & UK, AUS Greyhound races depending on your criteria. It’s a massive timesaver. It takes just 5-10min to make your daily selections if you choose that option.

Bet Bot Pro SettignsIt’s got a minimum and maximum odds range filter so it only places bets if they’re within your limits. It can place bets 1sec – 10min before the race starts and has a minimum or maximum number of runners filter.

If you want to focus just on a staking plan which is what I did for this month’s review then there are several. You can go with level stakes, % bank stake, fixed liability, % bank liability or % recovery staking.

It has a stop loss and profit target to ensure you limit losses for the day and stops when your profit target is hit. This is a great safety feature and one I use every day. It also has a trailing stop feature to protect profits already won.

There is an unsettled bets allowed filter which stops betting until last x bets have been settled. Mine was set to 3. And BetbotPro runs while you’re away at work or doing other things.

So that’s it for this month’s software review. My conclusion is that, in the right hands, this is a bot that does exactly what is says on the can. The permutations you can use to extract a profit from the markets above are substantial. I liked it. Yes, it made a profit. Will it for you? No idea. It depends on what you do with it.

Now I move on to the only negative which does impact on the profit. After several hard days of recovery stakes BetbotPRO decides enough is enough and stops recovering and just goes in to level staking. I first reported that here and it happened again yesterday. I came back and noticed several missed recoveries so I downloaded another BetbotPRO and ran the two applications side by side and checked and double checked all settings as they were running. They were identical.

I really don’t know what is causing this but in terms of risk the problem is minimal. It’s just a shame that several recovery opportunities were missed for a couple of hours which reflects in a lower profit. The stakes therefore increased during racing yesterday but with recovery only on half the stake the exposure was still well within limits that I find comfortable. I only posted the new BetbotPRO results in the daily results section. The failed recovery bot lost £9.86. Neither are included in the summary below.

Well that’s it from MOM Towers in Malta for today. Stay safe wherever you are and good luck to you all as always.

[…] Next week they’ll also be Darren of Bet72.com back for the second time by popular demand. He was my guest on WUBT nearly a year ago to the day and his show is in the archive player on the right. He has launched an awesome new application available at his website. Mark of BetbotPRO will also be joining us live the following week and I’ll be chatting to him about how he came up with BetbotPRO. For those new blog readers just joining us BetbotPRO made a profit for me last month of over £7000 gross. […]

Would u not report ur result more?

  3. Man of Mystery says

Sorry Chricke, no, not at the moment. But maybe again soon? We’ll see.

  4. Chricke says

But do u play more? The result is very very good:)

  5. Man of Mystery says

Yes, I am still using the same method.

  6. Chricke says

do u change to second favourite after 13.50 on greyhounds?

  7. Man of Mystery says

By default you have to unless you want to look at the tissue and do selections manually. I’ve asked for the added setting to choose 1,2,3,4 on dogs and different 1,2,3,4 on horses. It’ll be done in the next upgrade. 🙂

  8. Chricke says

but how do u do with greyhounds?

  9. Man of Mystery says

Anecdotal evidence suggests they’re profitable with a recovery.

Hi MOM and greetings from cold Finland! (-5 degrees Celsius this morning)

I just would like to say that you have very interesting webpage and very nice results with BetBotPro! I was wondering if we can use same system/settings with AU races? Do you have any statistics if this will work for AU races? I was testing last week two days with initial stake of €0,1 and received ~€10 profit per day. So, at least in those two days the results were similar. The liquidity will be probably problem with AU dogs races and trot races when using bigger stakes. In my test I was including all the races (dogs, gallops, trots).

  11. Man of Mystery says

Hi Janne, welcome to Juicestorm and thanks for your first post.

Thanks also for your kind words, we do try.

I understand the liquidity has picked up considerably and my settings on Bet Bot Pro may be viable on Australian horse racing. But I take on board your liquidity recovery concerns.

If you’re going to carry on I’d appreciate you letting me know your results. And if you fancied reporting them formally I could set up your own Australian section as a guest author?

I won’t do it because I’d need to fund the Australian wallet which I’m not, currently, inclined to do.

  12. Janne says

Thanks for your answer. I forgot to mention one thing. I started the bot around 8am Finish time (6am UK time) so I did not include whole AU race day. So, perhaps profit would have been even better if whole day had been included…or not 🙂

I think I will collect some profits with UK races first 🙂 and then later on (perhaps after the bot can load tomorrow’s races) I will test further the AU races and include whole day so we can get more reliable results. I’ll let you know if I do this in near future.

    Have a nice week!

  13. Man of Mystery says

    You too Janne and thanks.

    Hi MOM

thanks for a great website with very useful information!

I have been using your betbotpro settings in simulation mode for a while now and can see that they are very profitable so far – however before I ceven onsider going live I have a few questions that maybe you can answer. Surly if you continue the system at some point you will get a losing run of 10 or so in a row, when this happens will this not totally blow the bank? I understand you say 10000 x initial stake and a stop loss of 4000 times but as betborpro will place bets before the results of the prevoius bet you could potentialy go way over your stop loss. By my calcualations after 5 or 6 cycles you will have gone way over your stop loss so why do you use a setting of 10. Also surly placing 100’s on the outcome of 1 dog to recover is highly risky!. I have been doing some worst case scenario’s in excel and the losses mount up very quicky

I look forward to your respone. Many Thanks

  16. Man of Mystery says

Hi Willz. Largely you’re correct. I got to a losing run of 7 once. 10 could happen. But even if one bank blows I do now have a few more in reserve and I’d just start again.

The disaster scenario is if you blow your first bank. That would discourage most.

Good luck mate, sorry for the delay in reply but I was in transit for a few days.

Interested in getting the BetBot Pro and have an idea of criteria to use based on laying horses and possibly greyhounds. Can anyone recommend a system that they use or offer advice on finetuning aspects of the bot such as loss recovery, compounding etc

    Comments please

Hi MOM, great review and great site, i have just downloaded Betbot pro and have been running in simulation mode with great success. I have just turned sim off and am running live with a stoploss of £500 and £0.20 stakes. I am just considering my options for Max Profit & Loss and was wondering what your thoughts are on the Trailing Stop feature. I can’t quite get my head around it! Have you used it before? Many thanks!

  20. Man of Mystery says

    Hi Kieran, thanks.

I haven’t used it with BetBotPro but I do use a trailing stop loss regularly in my main market. Simply, if you have a £1000 of profit for the day and want to a lock a profit in at, say, £200 then you can set BBP to try and do that. Therefore there’s a “margin” of £800 which can be lost before BBP packs up for the day. Still leaving you with a profit of £200. That’s the theory!

But your unsettled bets would also impact on the calculation so you could still end in a loss. But not perhaps as much if you didn’t have it. But then again you may have recovered fully if you didn’t use it. I’m afraid it’s a case of roll the dice and take your chances. And consider your risk appetite.

Sir, have a great day and keep us informed as to how your simulation goes.

  21. Man of Mystery says

Hi Jim, I think Lee has popped your question in the forum. My settings are above.

  22. Kieran says

Thanks MOM, sorry i’ll ask questions in the forum from now on i didn’t see your post above. Thanks for the advice and luck!

  23. Man of Mystery says

    Hi Kieren,

No probs mate. This page is a bit long now! 🙂

  24. jim2007 says

    some questions for MOM. Please

Are your stakes set at £1 each as per the settings above?
How many races (approx) did the bot pick up based on the criteria you set?
Do you have any figures for December/January etc?
If so, what were the results and did you use the same criteria?
or, if not, did you change the criteria? or receive unfavourable results?

I’m not doubting the results but would just like to see some recent up to date details to see if your system would work long time.

If you could answer these I would be very grateful. I look forward to your response.

    Regards
    Jim

  25. Man of Mystery says

    Hi Jim,

Are your stakes set at £1 each as per the settings above? Yes.

How many races (approx) did the bot pick up based on the criteria you set? Off the top of my head I don’t know. But full results are at http://juicestorm.com/category/daily-results. Click each daily result and you’ll see the selections.

Do you have any figures for December/January etc? Not for using BBP.

I have run a closed (friends and family only) syndicate using substantially the same criteria for two years with a few disasters along the way. But a satisfactory profit nevertheless.

A good site to do your own due diligence at is http://www.adrianmassey.com/fav. UK horse race data from the last 16 years.

If I can help further please don’t hesitate to pop another question in. Have a great day.

    Hi MoM,

I have a similar enquiry to Jim’s email. I plan to buy the betbot pro as well. Couple of questions though if you dont mind.

You said that you don’t know the results for Jan,Feb…but are the profits atleast similar to your published october results?

Also – i dont have much seed money so will a 100£ starting bank be enough? for minimum stake ofcourse, or is it out of the question?

P.S I plan to bet on uk greyhounds only (or bad idea?)

    Thanks,
    Sander

  27. Man of Mystery says

    Hi Sander,

I can’t remember writing I don’t know the results for Jan and Feb. I think I wrote I’m not using BBP currently. Min you I could be wrong, my memory’s not what it used to be, you know.

£100 is not enough. Really, save your money on the purchase because you will lose your £100.

UK greyhounds for me worked ok. But I won’t comment further because I hope you’ll heed my advice.

Thanks for taking the time to post and have a great day.

  28. Richard S. says

    Hi MOM

I current have £600 on Betfair, and I’m currently running BetBotPro’s trial in simulation mode.

I would be satisfied with a profit of £5 minimum per day.

Do you think it’s possible to achieve that with my current bank, and if so, do you advise me to buy the full version?

    Thanks
    Richard S.

  29. Spuddricco says

    Good Afternoon MOM.
I hope you are well on this fine day sir. I have not checked your website for some time so please forgive me if you have answered this question or one similar already somewhere else:-)
I see from some of the comments earlier this year that you continued to use BBP. Are you still using it now and if so are your results similar?
Your feedback as always MOM will be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks and wishing you a good day

  30. Serafeim says

Hey all. From your all experience, how many consecutive wins did you have from greyhounds, UK horses, US Horses etc… using laying bets?
I mean separately, not all mixed up!
    Thanks
