Deportivo v Las Palmas
A proper relegation battle and if either side win it will certainly aid their relegation battle as we move into the final stages of the season. Deportivo have not won in twelve and Las Palmas have won only once away all season. This is not a game to get too heavily involved in and in five recent meetings today in the top flight, Depor have three wins with one draw. Both games in Coruna ended Over 2.5 goals and that might be the safest option here.
Real Betis v Espanyol
Not usually a fixture for goals with ten of the last fourteen meetings today being Under 2.5 goals, although three of the last five have gone Over 2.5 goals. Espanyol have won the last three head to head and beat Real Madrid 1-0 recently but they are a hard side to back to win as they have drawn seven of their last twelve. Betis have won six of their last twelve but lost five. I think this could become very tactical which would suit Espanyol so I’m going for a small Lay of Real Betis.
Sunday 18th March 2018
Barcelona v Athletic Bilbao
Champions elect Barcelona have won the last eight league meetings today including the last four at home by 3-0, 6-0, 2-0 and 2-1. With Barcelona unbeaten this season it would take a huge leap of faith to bet Bilbao and even a draw looks unlikely. Barca have drawn two at home and Bilbao four away so the odds are against that too. I think we have to accept that Barca win so perhaps trading around 2-0 and 3-0 for a green book might pay dividends especially as Athletic are generally pretty solid at the back.
Villarreal v Atletico Madrid
Atletico suffered only their second defeat at Barcelona but it was probably enough to end their slim title hopes. They have been in great form unlike Villarreal who at the time of writing had lost four of their last six including two at home. Nine of the last ten head to head have been Under 2.5 goals so that will be extremely popular but I fancy Atletico to win with a small stake on them winning 1-0.
Real Madrid v Girona
Girona have been fantastic this season and are just outside the European places. They beat Real at home, drew twice with Atletico and have gained four wins on the road. To win here would cap their season but they are meeting a Real Madrid side that seemed to have turned the corner and have won their last four at home and seven of their last nine league games. I would love to see Girona get something and I think there will be goals so let’s go for Over 3.5 goals.
