We are back with Champions League action this Friday as the last of the ‘round of 16’ games need to be played out, before we head into the Qtr-finals next week.

Juventus take on Lyon, but the game we are going to focus on is Man City hosting Real Madrid.

Madrid will head into the game full of confidence after securing another La Liga title last month, while City, who were only second in their Premier League this season, will be hoping to salvage something from this campaign.

The sides met for the first leg of this tie back in February and that saw City record a cracking 1-2 away win, so certainly head into the second leg with the advantage – especially now with home advantage.

Having said that, we’ll still have no crowds in the stadiums, so some might argue the ‘home advantage’ theory has now been diluted somewhat.

The match betting (90mins) sees Man City at 1.70, the draw 4.50 and Real Madrid at 4.00, while the outright market has Man City at 1.12 and Real Madrid 6.00.

We did, however, see a RED CARD for Madrid in the last clash so there might be some boil over from that, and with the sides having met 5 times in their histories and City only winning one – then this will also give the Spanish side some more hope.

Madrid have also scored in 4 of their last 5 games against City.

The last two head-to-heads played at City have also ended in a draw, but a stalemate is no good to Real Madrid so we expect to see them coming out the traps all guns blazing.

This will mean they might be a bit exposed at the back, but a lot really does depend on which team gets the first goal here – If City get it then you feel it’s ‘game over’ – however, if Madrid can get the early breakthrough then it’s ‘game on’!

3 of the last 4 head-to-heads went UNDER 2.5 GOALS, so the 2.75 on this happening again might appeal, but in a game that Madrid need to win and score in, then it’s no shock to see OVER 2.5 GOALS as the clear favourite here at 1.44.

City’s De Bruyne and Jesus were both on the scoresheet in the last meeting so might be popular in the scoring markets – Jesus is around 2.25 to score anytime, while De Bruyne is around 3.50.

Overall, it’s quite a tricky game to call. City should be the outright winners, but at 1.12 that looks very skinny, considering Madrid are start the game on the front foot.

Therefore, I think the ‘BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE’ option at 1.53 is the way to go. Yes, it’s not life-changing odds, but it’s a game that both sides have plenty of attacking options, plus are not always the most secure at the back. Even if City do get the first goal then Madrid would still only need two to force extra-time, while if the Spanish side grab the first goal then it could be a nervy game for the home team – we’ll see!
