Aston Villa v Ipswich
Five recent meetings today at this level with Villa winning two and two draws. At Villa Park the games ended 2-0 and 0-1 and the sides drew in August 1-1 at Portman Road. Villa like a draw with three in their last four at home and five in their last eight games but they really should be too strong for Ipswich who have lost eight of their last eleven. With a small doubt about Villa having the form at present to finish Ipswich off, I think a small play on Lay the draw with a view to trading out at the first goal, is the play.
Blackburn v Hull
All five recent meetings today at this level were Under 2.5 goals and Hull won 2-0 on their last visit. Hull have been in great form and are unbeaten in ten, but Blackburn are themselves playing well winning their last three. I can’t really find an angle here but Over 2.5 goals looks worth chancing at 1.91.
Norwich v Sheff Utd
The sides have met three times in recent seasons with two wins for Sheff Utd and one for Norwich with two Over and one Under. This game looks sure to have goals based on the stats with 64% of Norwich home games and 57% of Sheff Utd away games going Over 2.5 goals. The current price of 1.80 is about right and for those of you trading you could split stakes with Over 3.5 goals at 3.20.
Nottm Forest v Wigan
The recent meetings today in Nottingham have ended 4-3, 3-0 and 1-4 with five of the last seven head to head Over 2.5 goals. Forest are under new management and may become a little more negative until things settle down. Both sides have won just one in eight so backing either is fraught with danger so backing the draw with a view to trading out in the second half looks a reasonable option.
Rotherham v Leeds
A Yorkshire derby where three of the last four meetings today at Elland Road have finished Under 2.5 goals and with Leeds winning the last two. Leeds are too strong for Rotherham and eth only glimmer of hope for the home side is that Leeds have lost their last two away. Chance both sides to score at 1.83 if you need to play this match.
Stoke v Preston
Two sides who have flattered to deceive and both desperate for a winning run. The only recent relevant meeting was the reverse fixture in August which ended 2-2. Both are inconsistent but both are capable of winning. I just favour Stoke but it should be close and trading correct scores around 1-1 and 2-1 might allow us to trade for a green book.
