Staged at the Cheltenham Festival each March the Grade One Queen Mother Champion Chase is run over 2m, with 12 fences to tackle. This is where JUICESTORM give you the key Champion Chase trends to help you find the winner based on past statistics – use these trends to whittle down the 2022 Champion Chase runners and find the best past winning profile.

Run as the featured race on the second day (Wednesday) of the festival the race was first run back in 1959 and given the ‘Queen Mother’ title in 1980 to celebrate the Queen mum’s 80th birthday.

The betting for the 2022 Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase sees the 2021 Arkle Chase winner – Shishkin – at the top of the market, with the likes of Energumene and the 2021 Champion Chase third Chacun Pour Soi best of the rest.

The Irish have won two of the last five runnings (both trained by Henry de Bromhead), but, surprisingly, it’s a prize that’s eluded the powerful Irish handlers – Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott.

12 months ago, we saw the 2020 Arkle winner – Put The Kettle On – follow-up, to record her third win on the Cheltenham track. She’ll be looking to join the likes of Altior and Master Minded aa recent back-to-back winners in the race.

JUICESTORM VERDICT: Likely to be one of the races of the meeting as all eyes will be on the unbeaten SHISKHIN, who will be looking for his third Festival win after taking the 2000 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and last year’s Arkle Chase. He’s now 7-from-7 over fences and battled on well to beat his main rival here Energumene in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot last time. The Cheltenham Hill will suit – as he’s proved in the past – and after that hard race last time out has had almost 2 months off. Of, course Willie Mullins’ Energumene won’t be a pushover, but those against him might look to the fact this is his first try here at Cheltenham. Chacun Pour Soi (last year’s third) is another big player for Mullins and he’s a very decent 2m chaser on his day, but his big question mark at the moment is he’s run poorly both times he’s raced outside Ireland. Last year’s winner – Put The Kettle On hasn’t kicked on since taking this, but does love the track so it would be no shock if she bounced back here to run well at a big price and gets the mares’ allowance (7lbs) again. Envoi Allen could be the forgotten horse in the race – this time last year he was billed as the second coming but fell in the Marsh Novices’ Chase. He’s had a wind op recently though and bounced back to winning form last time at Leopardstown – you never know! But the other pick is NUBE NEGRA (e/w). This Dan Skelton runner was runner-up by ½ a length and was an impressive winner of the Shloer Chase here back in November. He’s only been out of the first three once from 9 starts over fences and looks to have his conditions again to be a player for the places.
